Stage 6. Editing of Reference Citations and Lists by the Copy Editor

Objectives: to ensure that reference citations and lists are correctly formatted and presented.

If this has been agreed as part of the tasklist, I may request details of missing bibliography or reference list entries, or clarification where there are inconsistencies between the reference citations in the text and the reference list, unless it has also been agreed that I will look these up myself as part of the tasklist for this project.

I will format the in-text citations and bibliography or reference list according to the style agreed in stage 3. (For a chart of different reference list styles, see the procedure page: comparing reference list styles.)

For the next step, go to stage 7: editing of tables by the copy editor.
